Madagascar Surf Trip and Safari
Madagascar is home to some of the world’s most unique plant and animal species and is also home to world class waves, with this Madagascar surf trip and safari allowing you to explore both.
We’ll start the trip by using a small fixed wing airplane to visit 3 National Parks. During each stop we’ll be escorted by a local guide who will lead the hikes. He’ll explain and showcase the many plant and animal species we expect to see including several different species of Lemurs. The landscape in each of the Parks is very different and provides an incredible contrast during each stop. We’ll stay in 4 and 5 star hotels throughout the trip so at the end of each day we’ll enjoy a delicious meal, a cold beverage and a comfortable bed. After visiting the National Parks we’ll trade in the hiking boots for the rash vest and head down to the South West corner of Madagascar. This wave rich area has numerous set ups for all types of surfers. Our expert guide will carefully choose the right location for the groups level of experience and wishes. We’ll stay in one hotel during the surf part of the trip. There is also the option of going kite surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling and visiting a traditional village. At the end of the Madagascar surf trip we’ll head back to Antananarivo before flying out.

This trip combines an incredible surf trip with the opportunity to explore the wonders of Madagascar, all the while eating good food, staying in nice accommodation and flying from one place to the next in a small aircraft.
Itinerary
Arrive in Antananarivo, transfer to the Novotel Hotel about a 15 minute drive from the airport.
Spend the night in the hotel.
Transfer from the hotel to the airport, board a charter flight using a Cessna Caravan fly across the country for 1hour and 30 mins to Bekopaka airstrip. Load into 2 four wheel drives for a short transit to Tsingy National park and World Heritage Park. Spend the day hiking through the limestone park, which contains 53 species of birds and 7 lemur species. In the afternoon we’ll load back into the plane and transit to Morondava flight time 1 hour.
We’ll drive to The avenue of Baobabs for a sunset visit. We’ll spend the night in a 4 star hotel on the beach the Palissandre Cote West Resort and Spa
Fly from Morondava to Isalo National Park.
Flight time 1 hour and 30 minutes. Spend the day hiking through Isalo National Park where we hope to encounter 4 different species of Lemur, Cameloens and numerous bird species.
In the afternoon we’ll transfer to Isalo Window for the sunset. We’ll spend the night in a 5 star hotel the Isalo Rock Lodge
Fly from Isalo to Tulear flight time 45 minutes. Transfer to the port, board a high speed boat. Transfer to Anakao 45 mins. Possibility to surf along the way. Check into our new home a 4 star hotel on the ocean the Anakao Ocean Lodge
Surf in the afternoon.
Using a high speed boat we leave each morning to variety of different surf spots. There are lefts and rights. Waves for beginners and expert surfers. All the waves are reef breaks. Sometimes we return for lunch or sometime we take lunch and explore the area and surf in the afternoon. It’s also possible to go kiteboarding, scuba diving and snorkelling. We also visit a traditional village and pirate bay to see Pink Flamingo and swim in a refreshing natural spring.
Transfer back to Tulear. Fly to Antananarivo 1 hour flight. Upon arrival we’ll transfer to the Novotel for our final night in Madagascar.
*There is an option to visit and hike in Ranomafana National Park on the way back, but this requires an additional night stay and has an associated added cost.

While in Antananarivo we’ll stay in the Novotel Hotel For our visit to Baobab Avenue we’ll stay in the Palissandre Cote West Resort and Spa while in Isalo National Park we’ll stay at the Isalo Rock Lodge and while surfing in the south our home will be Anakao Ocean Lodge

Weather
During Madagascar’s winter we can expect sunny skies most days. Temperatures reach into the mid to high 20’s Celsius during the middle of the day and cool off during the night to the mid to low teens. Winds are normally light to calm in the morning, picking up in the afternoon to reach 10 to 20 knots by the late afternoon. It’s a very pleasant climate at that time of year.

The safari portion includes guided visits to three iconic national parks, such as Tsingy de Bemaraha and Isalo National Park.
